Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik, Managing Director of the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), announced a significant medical and operational milestone, as all 31 PHCC laboratories have received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) — for the third consecutive time — following a series of thorough inspections conducted under the CAP’s rigorous accreditation program.
Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik explained that this achievement includes the reaccreditation of 28 existing laboratories, in addition to the initial accreditation of three new laboratories at Al Sadd, Al Mashaf, and Umm Al Seneem Health Centers. She emphasized that the accreditation was granted with no findings or deficiencies reported at any of the sites — a rare and remarkable testament to the operational excellence and high quality of PHCC’s laboratory services.
She added, “With this achievement, we at PHCC are proud to operate the largest network of CAP-accredited laboratories outside the United States, joining an elite group of over 8,000 laboratories worldwide.”
Commenting on the significance of this accreditation, Dr. Mariam highlighted that the CAP program is designed to ensure the highest standards of quality and patient safety in laboratory services. The assessment includes a comprehensive review of quality control procedures, staff qualifications, equipment and devices, facilities, safety systems, and overall management. She noted that obtaining full accreditation without any findings “reflects the Corporation’s excellence across all these areas.”
Dr. Mariam stated:
“I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations and deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to this outstanding achievement. I especially recognize Dr. Samya Ahmad Al Abdullah, Assistant Managing Director of Operations and Clinical Affairs, Dr. Mariam Al Emadi, Dr. Mashael Al Jaber, and Dr. Mohammad Al Harak.
